Having already toured the western part of our country with one of my favourites — Death Cab For Cutie — in tow, Neil Young starts the eastern leg this Saturday in Halifax with my other fave, Wilco, ridin’ shotgun. And though I’ll be away when the tour stops here for a two night home stand Dec. 4 and 5, I most definitely will be there in spirit. Wilco’s Nels Cline and his brother Alex Cline are releasing freakishly coincidental albums. He might not look like a rock star, but novelist Robert W. Walker has something in common with the bands Radiohead and Wilco. Next month, we planned to release a high-definition Blu-ray edition of Sam Jones’ acclaimed 2002 documentary about the band Wilco, I Am Trying to Break Your Heart. Earlier this week, Wilco sent a message to their fans telling them not to buy the Blu-ray disc, saying that they didn’t think the film warranted a Blu-ray edition. While we respect Wilco The group will comprise of Johnny Marr, Ed O’Brien, Phil Selway, Jeff Tweedy, John Stirrat, Glenn Kotche, Pat Sansone, KT Tunstall, Lisa Germano, Sebastian Steinberg and Liam Finn. Crowded House singer Neil Finn’s is set to release a solo album sometime next year. Some guest on Finn’s new album will include former Smith’s man Johnny Marr, Radiohead’s Ed O’Brien and Phil Selway. Popdose asks Jonatha Brooke about how she recently came to collaborate with the late Woody Guthrie (and whether she could even concentrate with the awareness of what Billy Bragg and Wilco had already done with the man’s lyrics), working with Neil Finn, Jon Brion, and Bob Clearmountain, surviving the major labels, and being an indie artist.
